People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some may be experiencing anxiety, stress, low confidence or difficulties in their relationships. Others may be navigating changes in family life, work, health or personal circumstances, or simply wanting to understand themselves better.
Sometimes it's difficult to identify exactly what is troubling us. We might feel stuck, question our choices or find ourselves putting other people's needs before our own. At other times, we may be curious about why we think, feel or respond in certain ways.
Counselling offers a space to talk openly, explore your experiences and develop a greater understanding of yourself, your relationships and what matters to you.
Our experiences, both past and present, can influence how we see ourselves, relate to others and respond to the world around us.
For some, counselling may involve exploring childhood experiences, self-worth, an inner critic or familiar patterns in relationships. For others, it may be about navigating change, understanding their identity, adjusting to new circumstances or finding the confidence to express their thoughts, feelings and needs.
You don't need to arrive with a clear understanding of what you want to explore. We can discover what feels important to you as our work unfolds.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. I believe that trust, understanding and genuine connection create the foundations for exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly.
Our sessions are collaborative, shaped by what matters to you. Through curiosity and reflection, we can explore different perspectives, notice patterns and begin to make sense of your experiences together.
My approach is integrative, drawing on different ways of working according to your individual needs. Our work adapts as our relationship develops, recognising that what feels helpful may change over time.
Taking the first step towards counselling can bring questions or uncertainty, particularly if this is something you haven't experienced before.
I offer a free 10–20 minute introductory phone call, giving us an opportunity to talk about what has prompted you to consider counselling, ask questions and see whether working together feels right.
Our first session provides time to get to know one another, discuss what you might hope to gain from counselling and begin exploring what feels important to you.
There is no set number of sessions. We can review how things are going together and consider what feels helpful as our work develops.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Ash, Surrey, and online sessions across the UK. If you’re considering counselling or would like to ask a few questions before deciding, please get in touch.
